Can pets hear the ultrasound?

Most pet owners who ask about pet ultrasound are usually not. What you need to know is that birds cannot hear the ultrasound under any circumstances, as their hearing is almost completely in the same range as humans. In the case of dogs, our experience is that urban (typically smaller bodied) dogs absolutely cannot hear it, nor can mixed breeds and older breed purebreds. Only some hunting dog breeds have the hearing to detect ultrasonic alarms. Fortunately, they are usually so well trained that they will not bark, they simply stand aside. We don't know of a similar pattern in cats, but even among them it is rare to find an individual that can hear. Cattle, pigs and other livestock are also not bothered by ultrasound.

Can I use the Vadalarm Rodent Repeller outdoors?

The device can be used outdoors, but only if it can be placed under a roof, e.g. under a patio. The rodent repellent is not waterproof, so direct rain can damage it.

Can I use the Vadalarm Rodent Repellent in the engine compartment of my car?

A lot of people have problems with rodents getting into the engine compartment of their car. However, when you consider that you might need to install a Vadalarm Rodent Repellent in the engine compartment, there are two important things to be aware of that unfortunately we do not recommend it. Firstly, our rodent alarms operate on 5V, whereas your car has a 12V system. While this would not be an insurmountable technical obstacle, it is a bigger problem that the engine compartment of modern cars is full of soundproofing materials that absorb not only engine noise but also ultrasound. In conclusion, we do not recommend, and would not advise anyone to install a rodent alarm in the engine compartment.
